Chicken in Green Masala

                                                                                                                                 Ingredients for Grinding :

1 Big bunch of coriander leaves
10 green chillies
7 flakes of garlic
1 inch piece of ginger
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
2 Tsp of Coriander Seeds
12 cloves
2 inch of cinnamon

12 to15 black peppercorns
1 small ball of tamarind

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 For Frying :

4 big Onions cubed finely
3 Medium Ripe Tomatoes cubed finely

Method :
Take a Pot (handi) put it on fire add 7 Tbsp oil once the oil is hot add the onions, brown it well now add the tomatoes and brown it, next add the ground Masala and fry it well until it starts leaving the oil. Now add the chicken, 1 ½ tsp salt (or as per your taste) mix it and let cook for 5 minutes. Add 1 ½ cup of water and let the chicken cook in the gravy for 15 minutes on slow fire. Now check the thickness of the gravy. Keep the gravy little thick coz it absolutely Yummilicious and lip smacking. Serve it with white rice or Naan.

Hi Wilfred,
For the fish green masala you just have to add fish instead of chicken. Thats it

Hi Adrian... The qty of chillies, cloves etc as given by you makes it look too spicy... What is the qty of chicken you are using for this qty of masala...

Addie the Baddie said...

Hi
The weight of the chicken was 1200 gms. The chicken does not turn out to be spicy at all. Infact if you see the pic, I did put a pic which shows the amount of chillies used and cloves too.

If you wish you can reduce the quantity of chillies and cloves and prepare it/ If you dont find it spicy then add slit green chillies accordingly. But the number of chillies used is the right quantity.

Believe me its just fantastic.

Thx for reverting Adrian... I am gonna try this out today...

All the best with the cooking. Do let me know what you think about it. I want to know if you found it spicy! Hopefully it should not.

Hey Adrian... I tried it out & it was great... I guess just the tamarind became a little more at my end... I am going to make this again for a party at my home... Since we are a family of 2, I reduced all the ingredients

Thanx once again

I am glad you tried it and more happy that you liked the dish.

Was hoping the chillies would suit your taste.

Thanks a lot for your comments.
